Upon moving back to Nova Scotia, after spending two decades in the Yukon, my family and I chose the Annapolis Valley as the place to call home. We eventually settled in Canning and soon became aware of the incredible potential of our small but mighty village and surrounding area.
After wishing many times for a place to meet up with friends over coffee I realized that Canning was missing a community gathering place – a place where everyone felt welcome, where friends and neighbours could unexpectedly see each other and most importantly, where you could have great coffee while watching the comings and goings of our village. From these two passions, building community and great coffee, the Village Coffeehouse was born!
Since opening, we have witnessed these two dreams come to fruition. The Village Coffeehouse has become a place where locals and visitors alike gather together to enjoy all the wonderful things this community has to offer. Homemade treats, great coffees and teas, local art and so much more. Something a little unexpected, off the beaten track but that feels like home no matter where you’re from. Whether you’re just passing through or a local in our town, we are so happy you found us and can’t wait to meet new friends.

We consistently monitor and adjust our environmental strategy to be most effective and efficient and stay up to date on best industry practices. Our community is beautiful and do what we can to keep it that way.
We hire local and support training for members in our community with inclusivity. We are a friendly shop where everyone is welcome. We support local commerce for products we need at the shop to keep our footprint small.
Canning is not only beautiful but also the home to many exceptional artists. From rug hooking to canvas to pottery, come and check out the incredible selection of art work from within blocks of the Village Coffeehouse.
